This work began with the discovery that countless desktop boards are discarded from school classrooms each year. Although worn through years of use, each surface was once part of a living tree. Kaiko〈One Sheet〉 seeks to awaken that forgotten truth— to breathe life once more into a material that has served, been exhausted, and yet still carries the memory of its origin. Through this single reclaimed board, the piece invites viewers to pause and remember the quiet life that existed before it became a desk, and to reflect on the layers of time held within its grain.
